🌿 Te Ara Taiao in wananga: whenua & plant-based pigments

In January, Te Ara Taiao Kairuruku (Educators) were introduced to whenua and plant-based pigments and inks by Tara-Lee Manu, a Taranaki-based artist and mātauranga practitioner. Tara-Lee works with Kauae Raro Research Collective to share knowledge, practices, tikanga and resources on earth pigments, inks and dyes. The opportunity to wananga in school holidays supports education coordinators, so they can in turn offer students a range of learning opportunities in the natural world. 🌿

Ngā Manu Pīkoko is the name for the student leadership groups in participating schools. This name translates to ‘The Hungry Birds,’ referencing the hunger for knowledge and passion of our future leaders. We can support our rangatahi by continuing to grow and learn alongside them. ☀️

🏖️ Fitzroy Beach Cleanup during Seaweek 2024

Come and help us clean the beautiful Fitzroy Beach during the 2024 Seaweek!

ALL WELCOME!* You do NOT need to be fit or stay the full 1.5 hours.

No RSVP needed, just meet us at 9:30am by the Kiosk Cafe.

♻️ We will sort the rubbish collected on-site to divert as much as possible from the landfill.

*This event is co-organised with Trails & Tots and is family and young kids-friendly! Your pēpi and tamariki are welcome! 👶
