🏆 The two WINNERS of the 2025 Upcycling Challenge

Upcycling is the art of “taking something no longer in use and giving it a second life and new function”. For the past few years, The Junction Zero Waste Hub has been running an Upcycling Challenge and here are the winners for 2025!

👀 Meet Elric, our Taranaki Nature Cleanups Coordinator!

Elric started the Taranaki Nature Cleanups in April 2023, and since then, he has been joined by LOTS of passionate locals! ⤵️

566 volunteers, 7.5 tonnes of rubbish removed and sorted, 60.5 km covered in 2 years. 🤯🤯 It's GO☀️D. But we want to do M🌏RE. With YOU! ⤵️

We're building a positive and connected community around doing some GOOD together, locally, here in Taranaki. 📍

🌱 The FDMC Plant Nursery Open Day

Francis Douglas Memorial College students have been working hard to develop their school plant nursery; potting, propagating, weeding, and watering. They are keen to clear out the last of our autumn stock and make way for new plants. Many natives, exotic plants and discounts available! 🌱

🛠️ Building with Pallets Workshop in Hāwera

14th June at St Mary’s Community Garden on the corner of Princes and Collins Streets, Hāwera 10am - 12pm.

You will learn how to 'read' the stamps on pallets to know which to use, learn how to break up pallets without splitting (much...) using crowbars and pallet busters. Then you'll be able to build a raised garden bed, or choose from other project ideas with the wood.
