Te Ara Taiao for Teachers and Tamariki πŸŒΏπŸ§‘β€πŸ«

Te Ara Taiao and Teacher Development Days strengthen the relationship between the schools and HapΕ« and by empowering the educators, the tamariki grow up with increased understanding and compassion for our taiao (environment) with a unique indigenous lens.

Going further, the New Zealand history curriculum is being mobilized by Te Ara Taiao, and this programme helps to enhance the schools’ ability to deliver this information confidently.

I tipu ake au ki Rangihaute, Rekohu.

He mama ahau..

 

My name is Marie, I am an uri of Ngā Māhanga a Tairi.

My passion is the whenua and our relationship with her.

I look forward to working with the Te Ara Taiao team as a Kairuruku in the kura.

I strongly believe we are a reflection of our whenua, we need to listen to her closely in order to help her heal, to heal ourselves.

I love the open non-judgemental way of tamariki, and enjoy seeing them light up when they have new understandings of how our people connected to the whenua and lived in relationship with her. My hope is that through these mokopuna we will restore the relationship with the whenua that sustains us.

Maara Magic in Marfell 🌻πŸ₯¬

After nearly three years of gathering, maintaining, evolving, overcoming, and persevering, a labor of love, the Marfell Community Garden is taking shape with the support of people who believe in food sovereignty and growing genuine human relationships. 🌱

Bringing the lawn mower to get fixed because the chord snapped, disposing of expired donated food in the pataka, or bringing in bags of sawdust to neutralise the rancid smell of piled-high grass clippings are just some of the gritty tasks that call for service above self. However, there are many small miracles that confirm the collective actions of individuals and organisations involved, and it is just enough to re-energise and persevere. πŸ’š

Coastal Walkway Cleanup - Ngāmotu πŸ–οΈ 🧹

Come and help us clean the Coastal Walkway from Ngāmotu Beach to the wind wand (& beyond if possible!). Meet us at 9am on SUNDAY 2 APRIL and BYO gloves and bucket if possible! Everyone’s WELCOME! ♻️

Volunteers helping out will be rewarded by our generous sponsors: a hot drink and a scone from Bach on Breakwater Cafe and vouchers from the Aquatic Center and Oceans Alive! 🎁
