PVA day and Conservation to help protect Kokako Chicks

Join us to support our friends the Tiaki te Mauri o Parininihi Trust this coming weekend! It's a super exciting time as they have just had some kokako chicks hatch!! You probably won't see one, but there is still important mahi that needs to be done to help keep them safe. They are running a volunteer day on Sunday 17th December.

Finally, a chance to control pests and make new friends at Christmas time! So come along and save a life (either of a bird or a new friend, depending on the weather).

If you have what it takes to join the PVA day, we’d love to see you at 9am at Pukearuhe Marae on Sunday 17 December.  It will be a perfect day for seasoned veterans and those new to our conservation project. We’ll have a short training session on using traps, as well as a health and safety talk, before moving up to Parininihi/Whitecliffs and spending the rest of the day in the bush checking traps and tracks. We will be mainly on the Whitecliffs walkway which has fantastic views but challenging terrain!  Please wear clothing suitable for tramping, bring sunscreen and a hat, a packed lunch and plenty of water.  A small to medium back pack to carry tools is also a good about 4pm, and then everyone is invited back to the marae for kai.

If you’re coming along, or have any questions, please email  or call/text Carla on 021301044. We need your email or cell number in case plans change and so we cook enough kai! (The day will only be cancelled if there is long-lasting, torrential rain – in which case we will be far too busy dancing around outside singing hallelujah.)

We'd love to see you there - invite your friends!

Merry Christmas.
