For those of you new to the Swap, welcome. For all of our returning Swappers, please have a read of the details below as some information has changed.
Arrive anytime between 11am-1pm. The earlier the better as the clothing goes off the racks quickly.
We're excited to announce that you have the option to drop off your clothes the evening before the event - Friday, October 26th from 6-8pm at the Senior Citizens Hall. We will have a number of our event organisers there to take your Swap items and we'll pop your name on the "pre-drop off" list.
Alternatively, if you know any of the event organisers personally, we will be happy to take your bag from you in the days before, if you can't make it on Friday night. Otherwise, we are accepting drop-offs from 10:00am on the day of the event.
We encourage everyone to drop off Swap items early, as this will allow everyone the opportunity to view a large variety of clothing when the Swap event begins.
YOUR BAG(S) OF SWAP ITEMS:
Please provide at least one bag of GOOD QUALITY clothes that you're ready to pass on to someone else. This can be mens, womens, childrens, accessories and shoes (Please note, no used underwear, other than bras for donation to upliftbras.org). Be sure all items are in good condition, clean and without rips (unless designer!), stains or smells. We are more interested in Quality than Quantity.
We will be collecting gently used bras, and new underwear to donate to Uplift Bras. If you wish to contribute items for this, bring them along with you! Thanks!
Pay your $5 entry fee (to cover venue hire) on the day. Please remember it's cash only. This is a not-for-profit community-driven event, with a reuse/reduce/recycle philosophy.
HOW DOES IT WORK? :
While your clothes get sorted into categories like "ladies short-sleeved tops", "dresses" or "mens pants" you can start perusing the clothes that have already been sorted. They will be arranged on display tables and racks.
You can browse through the clothing items and accessories to select the items you wish to take home with you. We'll have a communal changing room set up so that you can try clothes on if you wish.
As each person arrives, their clothes will be sorted (if you haven't already dropped off the night before or earlier the morning of) and put out on the display tables and clothing racks.
Our volunteers will be adding clothes as each new batch of contributions arrives. A wide range of attendees ensures that we'll have a wide range of styles and sizes so bring your friends!
You can stay for the full event, enjoy some free nibbles, or you might find an hour is plenty of time for you to find some great items. You will get a hand stamp so are welcome to come and go during the event.
When 1pm rolls around, people will go home with new-to-them clothes and hopefully, everyone feels like they got their $5 worth :)
From there, our lovely volunteers will pack up all leftover items and they will be donated to a local charity.
