We know that Taranaki can be a sustainable and thriving region in the future. But as the world shifts towards a low emissions economy, we risk being left behind in the transition to a low-carbon future unless we actively plan a new direction for our region’s economy.
So we’re pleased to be involved in a key plan for our region’s future launched last week, Taranaki 2050, the Taranaki Transition Roadmap.
Led by Venture Taranaki and the Just Transitions Unit at the Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment, ‘Taranaki 2050’ will be a Transition Roadmap that will plan out how we transition from our current economy to a world-leading low-carbon economy, in a way that grows and shares our region’s fortunes with everyone who lives, works and plays here.

Sustainable Taranaki is pleased to be involved in the Lead Group for the Roadmap, and to help support community engagement on the Taranaki 2050 Plan.
We want your ideas and passion for a sustainable Taranaki to help shape up the plan. So watch this space for upcoming events in early 2019 that we’ll be inviting you along to.
“We need voices from all corners of the regional community to ensure Taranaki in 2050 has opportunities for everyone,” says Venture Taranaki’s General Manager Transitional Economy Justine Gilliland, and the project’s lead.
There will be plenty of chances for you to be involved in the project – for now though you can learn more here: www.taranaki2050.org.nz.
