Our Photo Competition Winners!
A winner has been selected from each category for their ingenuity, creativity, and inspiration through imagery and storytelling. Thank you to Ecostore for their prize pack donations.
As part of the launch of our new name and logo, we ran a photo competition where entries were judged according to two categories: (1) your whānau, friends, school or workplace taking action to make Taranaki more sustainable (2) cupping your hands around part of the Taranaki taiao (environment) you value. A special thank you to everyone who participated!
Category 1: McClean Family While staying at the kids' Nana and Grandads house just out of Opunake, we always go across the paddock and down the track to Mangahume and Sky Williams surf breaks. We love exploring the beach and finding treasures. However, this time we decided to do a beach clean up and we were not impressed with the amount of plastic rubbish we picked up in such a beautiful spot. The cousins ranging in age from 3 to 11 feel proud that we left one of our favourite spots in a better condition than when we arrived!
Category 2: McClutchie Family Along the Parininihi "Whitecliffs" Reserve: "As a family we follow the walkways to check the traps and reset them from any stoats, rats caught so our Kokako have a much safer home.
1. Sustainability in Action - Group Photo
How are you and your whānau, friends, colleagues or school contributing to a more sustainable Taranaki?
Send us a photo or video of your group taking action to make Taranaki more sustainable. Your action could be at school, in your backyard or kitchen, at the beach, in the bush, or in your workplace. No action is too small, just capture a pic while you're out and about with friends or workmates!
2. Your Hands around the Taiao
Capture one of your favourite parts of Taranaki's environment (taiao) with your hands cupped around it in the shape of our new logo.
Tell us in your description what part of the Taranaki taiao (environment) is in your photo, where it is, and why you value it. Use your hands to make the same shape as in our new logo.
