DIY Sourdough starter with Bumblebee Bakery - (RETHINK / REDUCE)

  1. Introduction to sourdough: What is sourdough, how is it different to supermarket bread and why does this matter?

  2. Overview of the sourdough process: Tools, ingredients, grain milling

  3. Making sourdough bread: Mixing, folding and shaping demonstration

  4. Starter Care: How to create and care for a sourdough culture (hands-on experience where every participant creates their own sourdough starter to take home)

  5. Tasting!!!

NB: PLEASE BYO JARS FOR YOUR SOURDOUGH STARTER (IF POSSIBLE)

Everyone will make a starter plus extra flour to feed it, as well as written instructions and bread to take home.

Franziska will give participants a good insight into the topic of sourdough bread, offer the opportunity to ask questions and hopes to encourage participants to make their own sourdough bread at home.  As the sourdough process takes many hours, please be aware that this can’t be a full sourdough class, but a great starting point for future home bakers.
