Orange Bike Ride 2026 - New Plymouth Coastal Walkway

  • Waiwhakaiho River Mouth (near the Little Easy Coffee Container) New Plymouth, Taranaki Region, 4312 New Zealand (map)

Fun family friendly rides promote cycling as a sustainable means of transport for all of Aotearoa to enjoy. Bikes don't have to be orange :)

Across the country Nederlanders and descendants are organising family-friendly Orange Bike Rides on April 27th, to:
- promote cycling as a sustainable means of transport
- celebrate the bond between the Dutch and the Kiwis, and
- stimulate cycling across all generations.

The main ride will be along the Coastal Walkway approx. 9km - we start at Waiwhakiho river mouth (the grass area adjacent to the Little Easy Coffee Container), from there we ride west on the foreshore, before turning at the Windwand, and heading back to Waiwhakiho.

The Family Ride will tag behind at a slower pace, stop to play at Fitzroy and return - approx 2.4km.

Come early to decorate your bike, from 10am
Join the rides at 10.30am
Return for Coffee, treats and prizegiving!
Bike Kitchen cycle maintenance available.

Registration is free! Only registrants eligible for prizes and giveaways on the day.

The fine print: This is a fun social ride on a public path. Helmets must be worn and courteous sharing of the foreshore is expected. The organisers take no responsibility for individual behaviour and accept no liability for any injury or damages.

NP Bike Kitchen members are volunteers hosting the annual national Orange Bike Ride with the support of the Dutch Embassy, for the fifth year running, and this year promises to be the best yet!
